PEEPS

Chicks have been steadily hatching at our house since last night's entry, and as promised I have pictures of those fuzzy little ladies. I can't believe how cute they are! It's enough to turn Mickey Rourke into Marisa Tomei.

They've got a nice life ahead of them too. Sittin' under the heat lamp for a few weeks, with chillaxin' in the chicken coop, then off to the yard to take craps all over my car. It sounds pretty good to me.

Where we Farm and Grow

Adam lives and works at Hawthorne Valley Farm in the Hudson Valley just south of Albany, NY. He works full time on this Biodynamic, Organic Farm, where he helps manage a herd of 75 dairy cattle. Early mornings and "late" nights (7pm) you'll find him milkin' and chillin' with the babies (aka cows). In his off time he lacto-ferments vegetables from the farm, forages for wild edibles, makes cheese and concocts all sorts of seasonal delicacies in the kitchen with his lovely lady, Bettina, who also lives and works on the farm as a first year apprentice raising vegetables and working with the cows too.

April recently moved to a 15 acre hobby farm in Minnesota where she is learning the ropes to being a farmer for reals. You can find her chasing chickens, getting stuck in the mud and trying to keep her sanity in this first year of living on the land. She is also a full time, home school teachin' momma, scrubber of muddy floors, duster of never ceasing country dust and cooking in her crazy awesome kitchen.
